FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

Portrait of J. A. Gandarillas, 1922
EDITORS COMMENTS
is a captivating oil painting by Christopher Wood that captures the essence of an influential figure in early 20th-century society. This stunning portrait depicts Antonio Gandarillas, a Chilean diplomat and honorary ambassador, who played a pivotal role in Wood's artistic journey. Painted in 1922, this masterpiece measures 66x54 cm and showcases Wood's exceptional talent as he skillfully brings out the personality and character of his subject. The artist met Gandarillas in Paris the previous year, where their friendship blossomed amidst the vibrant art scene of the time. Gandarillas' connection to Parisian society introduced Wood to luminaries such as Picasso and Cocteau while enabling him to explore Europe freely. In this portrait, we see Gandarillas seated with his arm resting on a chair, exuding an air of sophistication and statesmanship. His black hair contrasts beautifully against his white attire, emphasizing both elegance and power. Wood's modern yet traditional British style shines through as he expertly captures every detail – from Gandarillas' posture to his thoughtful expression with hand on chin. The three-quarter length composition adds depth and dimensionality to the piece. This historic artwork not only celebrates one man but also serves as a testament to the cultural exchange between nations during this transformative period in history. "Portrait of J. A. Gandarillas" stands as a remarkable example of portraiture within modern art movements while immortalizing an important political figure through Wood's masterful brushstrokes.
