23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Matthew Brambles Trip to Bath: Arrival at Bath captures the essence of Georgian satire and caricature in this delightful print by Thomas Rowlandson. With a masterful combination of watercolor, pen and ink, and pencil on paper laid on mount, Rowlandson brings to life the comical journey of Mr. Brambles as he arrives in the bustling city. The scene depicts a horse-drawn carriage carrying Mr. Brambles, a wealthy squire, who has embarked on his trip to Bath seeking comfort and luxury. The exaggerated figures and expressions add an element of humor to the composition, showcasing Rowlandson's keen eye for satire. As we observe the various carriages surrounding Mr. Brambles' arrival, it becomes clear that Bath is indeed a place where one can indulge in all manner of comforts. From elegantly dressed ladies stepping out from their carriages to gentlemen conversing with excitement, each character represents a different facet of society eagerly awaiting their own pampering experience. Rowlandson's attention to detail is evident throughout the artwork - from the intricate patterns adorning clothing to the architectural elements that define Bath's grandeur. This print serves as both an amusing social commentary on 18th-century society and a testament to Rowlandson's artistic prowess. Displayed within Yale Center for British Art's Paul Mellon Collection in America, this piece remains timeless despite its origin dating back centuries ago. It continues to captivate viewers with its wit and charm while shedding light on an era long gone
