17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

The Opening of the Naples-Portici Railway in 1839 - A Glimpse into Italy's Industrial Revolution

EDITORS COMMENTS
. In this detail from Salvatore Fergola's oil on canvas painting, we are transported back to a momentous day in Italian history - the inauguration of the first railway line in Italy. The scene is filled with palpable excitement and anticipation as passengers eagerly board the steam-powered train, ready for their inaugural journey. The composition showcases both the beauty of Naples' picturesque bay and the rapid industrialization that was sweeping across Europe during the 19th century. As billows of smoke rise from the locomotive's chimney, it symbolizes not only progress but also a new era dawning upon society. The crowd gathered at this historic event reflects a diverse mix of people - men, women, and children alike - all united by their shared curiosity and enthusiasm for this revolutionary mode of transportation. Their faces reveal a sense of wonderment as they witness firsthand how technology can transform lives. Fergola masterfully captures every minute detail – from intricate architectural elements to meticulously rendered figures – bringing this significant historical moment to life. Through his brushstrokes, he immortalizes an important milestone that paved the way for further advancements in rail travel and ultimately shaped modern Italy. This remarkable print serves as a visual testament to human ingenuity and our unyielding desire for progress. It reminds us that even centuries later, we continue to be inspired by those who dared to dream big and push boundaries
