Drill Hammocks Naval Manoeuvres Quarter Deck Sketched Steam Tactics Taking Upper Deck Hms Repulse

17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

The Naval Manoeuvres - A Glimpse into 19th Century Maritime Warfare

EDITORS COMMENTS
. This photo print, titled "The Naval Manoeuvres" takes us back to the 19th century and offers a fascinating glimpse into the world of maritime warfare. The engraving, created by an English School artist in the late 1800s, captures a scene from The Illustrated London News on August 24,1895. As we delve into this historical image, our eyes are drawn to the upper deck of a majestic ship bustling with activity. Sailors can be seen going about their duties diligently - some hanging hammocks while others engage in drill exercises. The quarter deck is abuzz with naval manoeuvres as officers strategize steam tactics for future battles. Every intricate detail has been sketched meticulously, showcasing the artist's attention to accuracy and realism. From ridge ropes to HMS Repulse's after bridge and even glimpses of torpedo rooms, this engraving provides an immersive experience into life aboard a naval vessel during that era. Notably present are naval reserve men alongside regular navy personnel - a testament to the collaboration between armed forces during times of conflict or training exercises. This image serves as a reminder of the crucial role played by both army and navy troops in protecting their nation's interests at sea. With its rich historical significance and royal connotations associated with Britain's Royal Navy, this print encapsulates not only military prowess but also highlights how art can preserve important moments in history
