23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

A Serenade in Cairo; Eine Serenata in Cairo, 1893

EDITORS COMMENTS
is a captivating watercolour painting by Carl Haag that transports us to the enchanting streets of nineteenth-century Cairo. This mesmerizing artwork captures a beautiful scene filled with meteorology, religious symbolism, and human relationships. The vibrant colors and intricate details bring life to this outdoor setting as we witness a serenading moment taking place near an ornate building entrance. The soft natural light illuminates the scene, highlighting the expressions on the faces of both men and women involved. In this academic-style masterpiece, Haag skillfully portrays love and affection through his depiction of people posing and smiling amidst floral arrangements. The artist's attention to clothing apparel reflects the cultural nuances of Middle Eastern attire during that era. As our gaze follows the steps leading up to a shaded balcony, we are transported into an orientalist world where every gesture tells a story. The presence of flowering plants adds further beauty to this already picturesque setting. Haag's ability to capture emotions through facial expressions is evident as we observe individuals looking down or gazing upwards with feelings conveyed through their posture. Through this artwork, we are reminded of late-nineteenth-century European art's fascination with Egypt and North Africa. This exquisite print invites us into an era long gone but forever preserved within its delicate brushstrokes. It serves as a testament to Haag's talent as well as his dedication towards capturing fleeting moments in time for generations to appreciate.
