FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print titled "Four years in the fight" by Lucien Hector Jonas showcases a powerful American propaganda poster from 1918. The image depicts women diligently working in a factory, manufacturing grenade casings during World War I. Despite their crucial role in supporting the war effort, these female laborers are seen wearing protective shoes but lacking gloves or eye protection. The original title of this vintage poster emphasizes the debt owed to "The women of France" and highlights the importance of providing them with "houses of cheer". This artwork was created as part of the United War Work Campaign and supported by Y. W. C. A. , aiming to rally support for the war through visual communication. The graphic design elements employed in this advertisement effectively convey both patriotism and industrial strength. The presence of grenades symbolizes weaponry, while clogs worn by workers represent manual labor. This composition serves as a reminder that even vulnerable populations can contribute significantly to wartime efforts. Dating back over a century, this image offers us insight into an era marked by gender equality challenges and societal transformations brought about by global conflict. It is a testament to the resilience and determination displayed by women during World War I. Now preserved within private collections, this piece continues to serve as a historical artifact that encapsulates not only America's involvement in WWI but also pays tribute to all those who contributed tirelessly on behalf of their nations during one of history's most significant conflicts.
