17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a significant moment in history, depicting the preparatives for the assault of Jerusalem during the First Crusade. Painted by Friedrich Overbeck between 1827 and 1829, this fresco showcases Godefroy de Bouillon, a prominent figure of the crusade, sitting in front of Peter the Hermit. The scene is taken from "The Jerusalem Delivree" an epic poem by Le Muche (Il Tasso) that narrates the intense battles between Christians and Saracens during the siege of Jerusalem. The painting beautifully portrays the tension and anticipation felt by both sides as they prepared for this historic event. Overbeck's attention to detail brings out every emotion on Godefroy de Bouillon's face, reflecting his determination and resolve. The artist skillfully captures Peter the Hermit's presence as well, emphasizing his role as a spiritual leader inspiring thousands to join this holy mission. This artwork not only serves as a visual representation but also connects various forms of art - literature, history, poetry - all converging into one powerful image. It transports us back to medieval times when conflicts over religion shaped destinies and defined nations. Displayed at Casino Massimo in Rome, Italy since its creation in 1829, this fresco continues to captivate viewers with its rich historical significance. It reminds us of humanity's enduring quest for faith and conquest while shedding light on an era that has left an indelible mark on our collective memory.
