17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

The Chalon Family in their London Town Garden, early 1800s

EDITORS COMMENTS
captures a serene moment of domestic bliss amidst the bustling city. In this exquisite oil painting by Jacques-Laurent Agasse, we are transported to the charming garden of the Chalon family's residence on Church Lane, Kensington. The scene unfolds with a delightful array of activities. The family members are engrossed in various pursuits that epitomize leisure and contentment. A mother sits gracefully under a parasol, skillfully sewing delicate needlework while her bonnet-clad daughter attentively assists her. Nearby, another young girl engages in conversation with a neighbor through the white picket fence that encloses their verdant haven. Agasse masterfully depicts the idyllic summer atmosphere with vibrant strokes and warm hues that bring life to every leaf and flower blooming around them. The dappled sunlight filters through the foliage, casting gentle shadows on their faces as they relish this tranquil moment together. This intimate portrait not only showcases Agasse's artistic prowess but also provides us with an insight into the Chalon family's history. Having fled Geneva during tumultuous times, they found solace and joy within these walls – cherishing each other's company amidst nature's embrace. Now preserved at Yale Center for British Art thanks to Paul Mellon Fund from USA, this artwork continues to captivate viewers centuries later. It serves as a testament to both Agasse's talent and his ability to immortalize fleeting moments of familial love
