23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print transports us back in time to a scene of despair and resilience. Jacques Callot's engraving, titled "A Beggar and a Hurdy-Gurdy Player" captures the essence of poverty-stricken streets in 17th century France. In this image, we witness two figures who have fallen victim to destitution. The beggar, clad in tattered rags, embodies the hardships faced by those living on the fringes of society. His weathered face tells stories of struggle and survival as he extends his hand for alms. Beside him stands a hurdy-gurdy player, an itinerant street entertainer whose music provides solace amidst their dire circumstances. With determination etched upon his face, he skillfully plays his instrument with fervor, momentarily transporting both himself and passersby into another world. The contrast between these two individuals is striking; one resigned to begging for survival while the other finds strength through artistic expression. Together they represent the multifaceted nature of human existence - where poverty coexists with creativity and hope persists even in the darkest corners. Callot's masterful engraving not only serves as a historical document but also prompts contemplation on societal inequalities that persist today. It reminds us that behind every person experiencing hardship lies a unique story worth acknowledging. As we gaze upon this poignant image captured by Fine Art Finder from Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, let us reflect on our own role in addressing poverty and supporting
