23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the iconic figure of Ghaus al-Azam, Abdul Qadir Ghilani of Baghdad, captured around 1800 by an Indian School artist. Measuring 25x16 cm and belonging to a private collection, this gouache with gold paint on paper artwork is a true treasure. The image depicts a distinguished man in his mature years, donning traditional attire and sporting a magnificent beard. Seated indoors, he exudes wisdom and authority as he engages in deep conversation. The vibrant colors of pink and yellow add warmth to the scene while highlighting the rich cultural heritage of southern India. The subject's headwear and turban further emphasize his status within society. This piece not only serves as an exquisite example of Islamic art but also provides insight into the legal profession during the early nineteenth century. In this intimate setting, we witness two individuals engrossed in discussion; one can almost imagine them exchanging valuable advice or seeking legal counsel from each other. The composition captures their posture perfectly - hands clasped together, leaning forward attentively. This photograph offers us a glimpse into history - it transports us back to 19th-century Baghdad where men like Abdul Qadir Ghilani played significant roles in shaping society through their knowledge and expertise in law. It is truly remarkable how art has preserved these moments for generations to appreciate and learn from.
