23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

The Coldstream Guards at Landrecies, August 1914 - A Glimpse into the Chaos of War
EDITORS COMMENTS
. This powerful lithograph captures a pivotal moment during World War I, depicting the Coldstream Guards amidst the wreckage and destruction of Landrecies in August 1914. As part of the British Army's retreat from Mons, the 2nd Division unexpectedly encountered German forces in this war-torn French town. The image portrays a scene of intense combat and desperation. Smoke billows through the air as soldiers charge forward with bayonets fixed to their rifles. The front line is strewn with debris and corpses, evidence of fierce fighting between enemies. Houses burn in flames while others lie in ruins, adding to the chaos that engulfs both sides. Amidst this grim backdrop, wounded soldiers can be seen seeking refuge or receiving medical attention from their comrades. The guards division valiantly advances against overwhelming odds, determined to push back the enemy forces. This print serves as a haunting reminder of the brutal realities faced by those who fought on both sides during World War I. It highlights not only the destructive power of weaponry but also showcases acts of bravery and sacrifice amid unimaginable circumstances. As we reflect upon this historical moment captured by William Barnes Wollen's skilled hand, it is essential to remember those who endured such hardships for our freedom today. This artwork stands as a testament to human resilience and serves as an enduring symbol of remembrance for all those affected by war.
