17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this fresco, Giotto di Bondone transports us to the serene setting of Assisi, Italy, where St. Francis is depicted preaching to a flock of birds. Painted between 1297 and 1299, this masterpiece captures the essence of the beloved saint's connection with nature. The scene unfolds within the walls of San Francesco's Upper Church, where St. Francis stands in his humble monk's habit. With arms outstretched and eyes filled with compassion, he addresses an attentive audience made up not of humans but rather feathered creatures perched on tree branches and hovering in mid-air. Giotto's skilled brushwork brings life to each individual bird as they listen intently to St. Francis' words. The artist expertly portrays their varied species - from doves and sparrows to finches and owls - showcasing the diversity found within nature itself. This iconic image symbolizes St. Francis' deep reverence for all living beings and his belief that every creature deserves respect and care. It serves as a reminder that we are all interconnected in this vast tapestry called life. As we gaze upon this timeless artwork, we cannot help but be moved by its message of harmony between man and nature. It invites us to reflect on our own relationship with the world around us and encourages us to find inspiration in even the smallest moments of beauty that surround us daily. Through Giotto's skillful hand, "St. Francis Preaching to the Birds" continues to
