17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the renowned French poet, playwright, and diplomat Paul Claudel during his time in Japan in 1921. Serving as the French Ambassador to Japan from 1921 to 1927, Claudel immersed himself in Japanese culture and formed a deep connection with the country. In this intimate portrait, Claudel is seen alongside his wife Reine Sainte-Marie Perrin, whom he married in 1906. The couple exudes elegance and sophistication as they pose for the camera. A seated female figure, likely one of their daughters, completes the composition. Claudel's distinguished presence is accentuated by his well-groomed moustache and thoughtful gaze. His role as an ambassador allowed him to bridge cultural gaps between France and Japan while fostering diplomatic relations. As the brother of Camille Claudel, a prominent sculptor of her time, Paul Claudel was part of a family deeply rooted in artistic expression. This photograph not only showcases his diplomatic endeavors but also serves as a testament to his multifaceted talents. Captured by an anonymous French photographer from the 20th century, this image offers us a glimpse into an important chapter of Paul Claudel's life. Preserved within a private collection and now made available through eArchives Charmet and Bridgeman Images' collaboration on Fine Art Finder platform; it stands as a timeless tribute to this remarkable individual who left an indelible mark on both literature and international relations.
