17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Captured in a timeless photograph, the majestic presence of young African elephant Kiberenge resonates through the lens. Taken at London Zoo in August 1925, this image showcases the bond between man and beast during an era when exotic animals were marvels to behold. Kiberenge, born in February 1922, was a gift from H. E. Sir Horace Byatt to London Zoo on September 14th, 1923. His arrival marked a significant moment for both the zoo and its visitors as they marveled at his youthful energy and innate beauty. In this particular snapshot, Kiberenge raises his trunk high into the air while emitting a powerful call that reverberates throughout his enclosure. The profile view captures every detail of Kiberenge's magnificent headshot – from his expressive eyes to the intricate wrinkles etched across his forehead. The photograph serves as a testament to the importance of conservation efforts during that time period when capturing these incredible creatures for public display was still prevalent. Frederick William Bond skillfully immortalized this moment with expert precision, showcasing not only Kiberenge's captive existence but also highlighting our fascination with these gentle giants. As we gaze upon this historical artifact today, it reminds us of our responsibility to protect and preserve these remarkable animals for future generations.
