Lake Taupo Maori New Zealand

31"x27" (79x69cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 24x20 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 31x27 inches (787x685mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

The Threatened Maori Rising in New Zealand

EDITORS COMMENTS
is a captivating engraving that takes us back to the 19th century, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and resilience of the Maori people. The print captures a pivotal moment in history when tensions were high, depicting a scene of tribal warriors, women, and families united against an imminent threat. The image transports us to Lake Taupo, where the Maori community gathers at Waipahihi amidst stunning natural surroundings. A proud Maori warrior stands tall at the forefront, exuding strength and determination as he leads his people in defense of their ancestral lands. His presence symbolizes their unwavering spirit and commitment to protecting their way of life. Beside him stands a Maori woman, equally fierce and resolute. She represents the integral role played by women within this society - strong pillars supporting their families and communities through challenging times. In the background, we see other members of this close-knit tribe; men armed with traditional weapons ready for battle while children cling tightly to their parents' sides. This portrayal emphasizes how every member contributes to safeguarding their culture from external threats. This engraving not only showcases the threatened rising but also highlights the beauty and harmony between nature and humanity that defines New Zealand's landscape. It serves as a reminder of both past struggles faced by indigenous peoples worldwide and our collective responsibility to honor and preserve diverse cultures for future generations.
