31"x27" (79x69cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 24x20 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 31x27 inches (787x685mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This engraving, titled "A scene from London, dated 1720" takes us back in time to the bustling streets of the British capital over three centuries ago. Created by Bernard Picart, a renowned French artist of the period, this print offers a fascinating glimpse into life during the early 18th century. The scene is teeming with activity as people go about their daily routines against a backdrop of impressive architecture. The intricate details captured by Picart allow us to observe the fashion and clothing styles prevalent at that time. From elegant gowns and powdered wigs to sturdy boots and tricorn hats, each individual seems to have their own story to tell. Amidst the crowd, horses play a prominent role in this snapshot of London life. Whether they are pulling carriages or being ridden by well-dressed gentlemen, these majestic animals add an air of grandeur and vitality to the scene. As we explore further into this engraving's rich tapestry, it becomes evident that livestock also played an essential part in city life during this era. With farm animals scattered throughout the image – perhaps on their way to market or providing sustenance for local residents – we gain insight into how closely intertwined urban and rural communities were at that time. Through its meticulous attention to detail and historical context, "A scene from London" transports us back in time while reminding us of our shared human experiences across centuries.
