17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This portrait captures the essence of Louis le Grand, Marquis de Marizy, a prominent figure in French aristocracy during the 18th century. Painted by Louis Leopold Boilly, this oil on canvas masterpiece measures 22x17 cm and is housed at the Musee Marmottan Monet in Paris, France. In this striking portrayal, we see a young military general exuding an air of authority and sophistication. Dressed in a distinguished frock coat adorned with intricate details and accompanied by an elegant jabot, his attire reflects his high social status. The artist skillfully captures every nuance of his subject's expression - from the piercing gaze to the subtle smile that hints at both confidence and humility. The painting not only showcases Marquis de Marizy as an individual but also provides insight into the wider society of the time. As part of French aristocracy during the First Empire era, he was associated with influential figures such as Cumont d'Ancoux et de Vantournaux. Boilly's attention to detail brings this historical period to life; every brushstroke reveals layers of history and culture. This print allows us to appreciate not only its artistic value but also its significance as a window into a bygone era. As we admire this remarkable piece from Bridgeman Images' collection without commercial intent or use, we are transported back to 18th-century France where elegance met power in perfect harmony.
