Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

The Departure of Aeneas from Carthage
EDITORS COMMENTS
is a captivating oil on canvas masterpiece by Benito-Manuel de Aguero. This dramatic painting, housed in the Prado Museum in Madrid, Spain, depicts a pivotal moment from Virgil's epic poem, The Aeneid. In this scene, we witness the emotional departure of Aeneas and his fleet from the bustling port of Carthage. As storm clouds gather overhead and waves crash against jagged rocks along the coast, tension fills the air. The artist skillfully captures both the beauty and danger of nature as a vibrant rainbow emerges amidst the darkened sky. Aguero's attention to detail transports us to ancient times; every figure is meticulously rendered with classical attire and expressions that reflect their inner turmoil. The African setting adds an exotic touch to this historical narrative. The composition exudes movement and energy as ships sail away into uncertain waters. It symbolizes not only Aeneas' physical departure but also his emotional farewell to Queen Dido and their ill-fated love affair. "The Departure of Aeneas from Carthage" serves as a visual reminder of life's inevitable transitions – leaving behind what once was for what lies ahead. It encapsulates themes such as destiny, sacrifice, and resilience that resonate across time. This print captures all these elements flawlessly, allowing art enthusiasts worldwide to appreciate Aguero's mastery at home or in galleries alike.
