17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this illustration from Arthur Rackham's 1909 edition of The Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm, we witness a dramatic moment in the story "The Wren and the Bear". The scene depicts an intense encounter between a cunning fox and a swarm of hornets. As the hornets deliver their third sting, causing excruciating pain, the fox lets out a piercing scream. In that instant, fear takes hold and his once proud tail droops between his legs. Rackham's masterful use of color lithography brings this fairy tale to life with vibrant hues that enhance each element within the composition. From the majestic stork perched on a branch above to the watchful crows observing from afar, every creature plays its part in creating an atmosphere charged with anticipation. This enchanting image not only captures our imagination but also serves as a reminder of timeless themes found within folklore: bravery tested by adversity and consequences faced when deceit is exposed. It transports us back to childhood days spent immersed in magical tales where animals possessed human-like qualities and embarked on extraordinary adventures. As we gaze upon this print, we are reminded of how art has long been intertwined with storytelling – igniting our curiosity while simultaneously allowing us to escape into fantastical realms. Whether enjoyed by children or adults alike, Rackham's illustration invites us to delve into worlds where animals speak, mythical creatures roam free, and moral lessons await those willing to listen.
