23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a pivotal moment in biblical history as Saul casts his javelin at David. Taken from Hulberts Story of the Bible, published by The John Winston Company in 1932, this colour lithograph by Anton Robert Leinweber beautifully depicts the intensity and drama of this ancient tale. Intricately detailed costumes and regal palace surroundings transport us back to a time when kings ruled with power and authority. The image showcases the contrasting characters of Saul and David, highlighting their roles as king and servant respectively. While Saul's face is filled with anger and determination, David remains calm, clutching his lyre - symbolizing his musical talents that soothed Saul's troubled soul. The presence of servants adds depth to the scene, emphasizing the significance of this event within the kingdom. As we gaze upon this artwork, we can almost hear the tension in the air as Saul hurls his javelin towards David; an act driven by jealousy and fear. Leinweber's skillful use of color brings life to every detail: from the vibrant robes worn by both figures to the golden accents adorning their surroundings. This print serves as a reminder not only of religious teachings but also as a testament to timeless human emotions such as envy, betrayal, and resilience. A true masterpiece from Bridgeman Images' collection that transports us into one of humanity's most enduring stories - where faith meets conflict on an epic scale.
