17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This lithograph titled "Tug of the coalition, 1831" takes us back to a significant moment in American political history. Created by an anonymous artist from the American School in the 19th century, this print measures 21.6x25.8 cm and is housed at the esteemed American Antiquarian Society in Worcester, Massachusetts. The artwork humorously depicts a fierce tug-of-war between opposing forces during an election campaign. At its center stands Andrew Jackson, the 7th President of the United States (1767-1845), who was known for his strong leadership and controversial policies. Surrounding him are various politicians engaged in a heated dispute, their exaggerated caricatures adding a touch of satire to the scene. Through this satirical lens, we witness not only a physical struggle but also symbolic representations of differing ideologies and conflicting interests within politics. The artist skillfully captures both the intensity and absurdity that often accompany electioneering. As we examine this engraving closely, it serves as a reminder that political disagreements have long been part of our democratic process. It invites us to reflect on how these disputes shape our nation's history while offering insight into human nature itself. Thanks to Bridgeman Images' Fine Art Finder platform and courtesy extended by the American Antiquarian Society, we can appreciate this historical gem without commercial intentions or restrictions on its use.
