23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

The Smallweed Family - A Satirical Glimpse into Victorian Society
EDITORS COMMENTS
. This print, illustrated by the renowned artist Phiz (Hablot Knight Browne), offers a fascinating glimpse into Charles Dickens' masterpiece, "Bleak House". Published in London in 1853, this illustration captures the essence of Victorian society through its satirical portrayal of the Smallweed family. With intricate detail and skillful execution, Phiz brings to life Dickens' vivid characters. The Smallweeds, known for their cunning nature and relentless pursuit of wealth, are depicted with exaggerated features that highlight their greed and deceitfulness. Through his masterful use of sketching and engravings, Phiz creates a visual commentary on the social class divide prevalent during this era. As one of England's most celebrated writers and authors, Charles Dickens used literature as a platform to shed light on societal issues. His works often exposed the harsh realities faced by those living in poverty while critiquing the upper classes who perpetuated such inequalities. This particular illustration perfectly encapsulates Dickens' ability to blend humor with social criticism. Displayed horizontally with classical elegance, this print is an exquisite addition to any art collection or literary enthusiast's home decor. Its timeless appeal transcends generations as it continues to captivate audiences today. Ken Welsh has expertly captured both the essence of Phiz's work and its historical significance within British literature through this stunning reproduction.
