17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the iconic moment from "The Arabian Nights Entertainments" where Sinbad the Sailor valiantly carries the Old Man of the Sea on his shoulders. The illustration, skillfully crafted by Francis Brundage in 1898, brings to life this legendary tale of adventure and perseverance. In this vivid depiction, Sinbad's muscular frame bears the weight of the wizened old man as they traverse a rocky landscape near the water's edge. The vibrant colors and intricate details highlight Brundage's mastery in capturing both the physical strain on Sinbad's face and the reflection of determination in his eyes. As we gaze upon this historical artwork, we are transported back to a time when storytelling was an art form cherished by many. The engraving exudes a vintage charm that adds depth to its significance within our cultural archives. The composition expertly frames these two central figures against a backdrop of nature, emphasizing their contrasting roles - one burdened with age and wisdom, while the other embodies strength and resilience. This side view perspective allows us to witness Sinbad looking away into an unknown future as he carries his burdensome companion towards their shared destiny. Ken Welsh has captured not only an image but also a piece of history through this stunning photograph. It serves as a reminder that even in times long past, tales like those found within "The Arabian Nights Entertainments" continue to captivate our imaginations and inspire us with their timeless lessons of courage and endurance.
