17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print transports us back to the historic Battle of Vittoria, which took place on June 21, 1813. Engraved by D. J. Pound after G. W. Terry and featured in "England's Battles By Sea And Land" by Lieut Col Williams, this illustration captures a pivotal moment in British history. The scene depicted is horizontal and showcases the intensity of the battle between British soldiers and their French counterparts. The engraving adds a sense of gravity to the image, emphasizing the seriousness of war. Intricate details bring this historical event to life; we can see troops from both sides engaged in fierce combat amidst a backdrop of Spanish landscapes. The presence of Spanish forces highlights their crucial role as allies during this conflict. Commanded by General Wellington, the British troops fought valiantly against Napoleon's army, ultimately emerging victorious at Vittoria. This triumph marked a turning point in the Napoleonic Wars and contributed significantly to France's eventual defeat. Ken Welsh skillfully captures these significant moments through his masterful penmanship and attention to detail. His sketches allow us to relive history while appreciating its artistic beauty. As we gaze upon this remarkable print, we are reminded not only of the bravery displayed by soldiers but also of how wars shape nations' destinies. It serves as an enduring testament to human resilience amid times of great turmoil—a poignant reminder that history should never be forgotten nor repeated.
