23"x19" (58x48cm) Premium Frame

FSC real wood frame with double mounted 16x12 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 23x19 inches (584x482mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back in time to the ancient world, specifically to a scene from "The Outline of History" by H. G. Wells. The image showcases Nimrod, a legendary figure known for his exceptional hunting skills and depicted here in all his mightiness. In this vividly colored illustration, we witness an intense moment as Nimrod leads an attack on lions with unwavering determination. Mounted on a chariot pulled by two powerful white horses, he charges forward at incredible speed. With spear in hand and arrows ready, he fearlessly confronts the ferocious beasts that threaten him and his men. The artist Briton Riviere masterfully captures the intensity of the battle between man and animal. The wounded lions fiercely retaliate against their attackers while Nimrod's companions valiantly join him in this perilous encounter. This historical drawing not only portrays a thrilling hunt but also offers insight into ancient Assyrian culture where hunting was considered both a sport and a symbol of power. It serves as a reminder of humanity's enduring fascination with conquering nature's most formidable creatures. Ken Welsh has skillfully reproduced this remarkable artwork through photography, allowing us to appreciate its intricate details even after so many years have passed since its original publication in 1920. This print is sure to captivate history enthusiasts who seek to immerse themselves in the grandeur of past civilizations and heroic figures like Nimrod - forever remembered as one mighty hunter.
