17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the exquisite detail of the decoration on the portal of the Cathedral of Altamura, specifically focusing on "Our Lady of Annunciation". The photograph, taken around 1931, beautifully captures a moment frozen in time from the XIV-XV centuries. Created by Maestro Antonio di Andria, this artwork is a testament to late Gothic and Gothic styles prevalent during the Middle Ages in Europe. The image reveals a plethora of symbolic elements that enrich its meaning. At first glance, one's eyes are drawn to an intricately carved lion - a powerful animal representing strength and courage. This type of representation serves as an allegory for divine protection and guardianship over those who enter through these sacred doors. Moving further into the composition, we encounter an angelic figure gracefully hovering above "Our Lady of Annunciation" and her child. This depiction represents their celestial nature and conveys their role as intermediaries between heaven and earth. Surrounding them, lush vegetation composed of briars adds depth to this religious subject matter. These vegetal elements symbolize both life's challenges and growth potential within spirituality. Additionally, a crest-like emblem or shield can be observed nearby; it bears resemblance to heraldic ornaments seen throughout Europe during this period. Such symbols were often associated with noble families or institutions closely tied to religious matters. Anderson's skillful photography has captured not only the physical beauty but also the spiritual essence embodied within this artwork. Through his lens, viewers are transported back in time to appreciate both historical significance and artistic mastery present in Altamura's Cathedral portal decoration.
