17"x15" (43x38cm) Premium Frame
FSC real wood frame with double mounted 10x8 print. Double mounted with white conservation mountboard. Frame moulding comprises stained composite natural wood veneers (Finger Jointed Pine) 39mm wide by 21mm thick. Archival quality Fujifilm CA photo paper mounted onto 1mm card. Overall outside dimensions are 17x15 inches (431x381mm). Rear features Framing tape to cover staples, 50mm Hanger plate, cork bumpers. Glazed with durable thick 2mm Acrylic to provide a virtually unbreakable glass-like finish. Acrylic Glass is far safer, more flexible and much lighter than typical mineral glass. Moreover, its higher translucency makes it a perfect carrier for photo prints. Acrylic allows a little more light to penetrate the surface than conventional glass and absorbs UV rays so that the image and the picture quality doesn't suffer under direct sunlight even after many years. Easily cleaned with a damp cloth. Please note that, to prevent the paper falling through the mount window and to prevent cropping of the original artwork, the visible print may be slightly smaller to allow the paper to be securely attached to the mount without any white edging showing and to match the aspect ratio of the original artwork.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This photo print, titled "FVQ-F-138979-0000" transports us back in time to the bustling streets of Hungary between 1928 and 1935. The image captures the essence of commerce and trade as we see a Hungarian lady seated gracefully amidst sacks of foodstuffs, her presence commanding attention. The focal point of this photograph is undoubtedly the balance scale placed beside her. It symbolizes the importance of fair exchange and reflects the economic significance that street vendors held during that era. With precision, she weighs out portions for customers who pass by, eager to purchase her goods. As our eyes wander across the frame, we are struck by her traditional headdress adorned with a kerchief. This accessory adds an air of authenticity to her appearance while hinting at cultural or religious influences within Hungarian society at that time. Her attire speaks volumes about fashion and clothing trends prevalent among European women during this period. She wears a shirt tucked neatly into an apron tied around her waist—a practical ensemble suitable for long hours spent on street corners selling produce. Intriguingly, small baskets can be seen scattered around her feet along with bags and sacks filled with various food items—an indication of both abundance and scarcity coexisting within this vibrant marketplace. Beyond its aesthetic appeal lies a deeper anthropological significance. This photograph offers glimpses into history—capturing not only individuals but also providing insights into populations, territories, nationalities, ethnography, folklore—all woven together in one powerful visual narrative. Taken by renowned photographer Rudolf Balogh from Alinari studios—the leading name in historical photography—we are fortunate to have this snapshot frozen in time; it serves as a testament to human resilience amid changing times while celebrating the rich tapestry that is Hungarian culture.
