Mars Science Laboratory landing site C013 / 7309

Target landing site for the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) mission rover, Curiosity. The target is within Gale Crater, near the foor of Mount Sharp. The larger target was revised down to the smaller area in early June 2012. The rover, which weighs over 900 kilograms, has a robotic arm to collect samples and a camera on a 2.1 metre tall mast. The MSL was launched on 26th November 2011 and is due to land on Mars on 6th August 2012 on a mission to determine if Mars is, or was ever, able to support microbial life. Image obtained using data from the High Resolution Stereo Camera on the Mars Express Orbiter, the Context Camera on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter and the Viking Orbiter

Located within Gale Crater, near the foot of Mount Sharp, this image offers a unique perspective of Mars' rugged terrain and the remarkable engineering feat of the rover's landing. Bring the wonders of space into your home or office with this high-quality, vibrant poster print. Perfect for space enthusiasts, educators, or anyone with a passion for exploration.

A2 Poster (59.4 x 42cm, 23.4" x 16.5" inches) printed on 170gsm Satin Poster Paper. Securely packaged, rolled and inserted into a strong mailing tube and shipped tracked. Poster Prints are of comparable archival quality to our Photographic prints, they are simply printed on thinner Poster Paper. Whilst we only use Photographic Prints in our frames, you can frame Poster Prints if they are carefully supported to prevent sagging over time.

Poster prints are budget friendly enlarged prints in standard poster paper sizes (A0, A1, A2, A3 etc). Whilst poster paper is sometimes thinner and less durable than our other paper types, they are still ok for framing and should last many years. Our Archival Quality Photo Prints and Fine Art Paper Prints are printed on higher quality paper and the choice of which largely depends on your budget.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the Mars Science Laboratory landing site C013 / 7309, which served as the target for NASA's groundbreaking mission rover, Curiosity. Nestled within Gale Crater near the majestic Mount Sharp, this revised landing area was carefully chosen in early June 2012 to maximize scientific exploration potential. Curiosity, weighing over 900 kilograms and equipped with a state-of-the-art robotic arm and a camera mounted on a towering 2.1-meter mast, embarked on its interplanetary journey after being launched on November 26th, 2011. Its primary objective? To unravel one of humanity's most profound mysteries: whether Mars has ever been capable of supporting microbial life. The image itself is an extraordinary composite created using data from various sources including the High Resolution Stereo Camera aboard the Mars Express Orbiter, the Context Camera on the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, and even imagery captured by Viking Orbiter missions. This technological marvel offers us an unprecedented glimpse into our neighboring planet's surface. As we delve deeper into the wonders of space exploration in this remarkable era of scientific advancement in the twenty-first century, it is images like these that remind us of our boundless curiosity and relentless pursuit to uncover secrets hidden within our solar system. Thanks to NASA/JPL-CALTECH/ESA/DLR/FU BERLIN/MSSS/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY for sharing this awe-inspiring snapshot with us all.
