Light-intensity camera

Light-intensity camera beneath its protective dome at the Poker Flat Research Range (PFRR), Alaska, USA. The telescope and attached instrumentation are used to measure the relative brightness of atmospheric and astronomical objects. The PFRR is primarily a launch facility for sounding (non- orbiting) rockets used in auroral research. Other equipment used at PFRR to research the Arctic atmosphere includes meteorological balloons and polar-orbiting satellites. This observing dome is situated on the roof of the Neil Davis Building of the Science Operations Center. PFRR is operated by the University of Alaskas Geophysical Institute and funded by NASA

Discover the captivating world of scientific research with our Media Storehouse Poster Prints. This striking image showcases a light-intensity camera, shielded under its protective dome at the Poker Flat Research Range in Alaska, USA. The telescope and accompanying instrumentation are designed to measure the relative brightness of celestial objects and other light sources, contributing significantly to scientific advancements. Bring this mesmerizing reminder of the wonders of science into your home or office with our high-quality, vibrant poster prints.

A2 Poster (59.4 x 42cm, 23.4" x 16.5" inches) printed on 170gsm Satin Poster Paper. Securely packaged, rolled and inserted into a strong mailing tube and shipped tracked. Poster Prints are of comparable archival quality to our Photographic prints, they are simply printed on thinner Poster Paper. Whilst we only use Photographic Prints in our frames, you can frame Poster Prints if they are carefully supported to prevent sagging over time.

Poster prints are budget friendly enlarged prints in standard poster paper sizes (A0, A1, A2, A3 etc). Whilst poster paper is sometimes thinner and less durable than our other paper types, they are still ok for framing and should last many years. Our Archival Quality Photo Prints and Fine Art Paper Prints are printed on higher quality paper and the choice of which largely depends on your budget.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a remarkable sight at the Poker Flat Research Range (PFRR) in Alaska, USA. Encased within its protective dome, a cutting-edge light-intensity camera stands tall, ready to unravel the mysteries of our atmosphere and beyond. The telescope and accompanying instruments are meticulously designed to measure the relative brightness of both atmospheric phenomena and celestial objects. PFRR serves as an esteemed launch facility for non-orbiting rockets dedicated to auroral research. However, it is not limited to rocketry alone; this scientific haven also employs meteorological balloons and polar-orbiting satellites to delve into the complexities of the Arctic atmosphere. Perched atop the Neil Davis Building of the Science Operations Center, this observing dome offers researchers an ideal vantage point for their studies. Operated by the University of Alaska's Geophysical Institute and funded by NASA, PFRR plays a crucial role in advancing our understanding of optical properties related to climate, astronomy, astrophysics, and more. As we gaze upon this image captured by Science Photo Library with awe-inspiring anticipation, we are reminded that it is through such innovative equipment that humanity continues its quest for knowledge about our universe. Let us celebrate these tireless efforts as they bring us closer than ever before to unlocking nature's most enigmatic secrets - from mesmerizing aurorae dancing across northern skies to measuring luminosity levels with utmost precision.
