Italian poetry frontispiece. 18th-century frontispiece artwork for a book of Italian poetry. The scene shows a goddess-like muse figure advising a seated scholar or poet in front of a monkey using a mortar and pestle. The book title is on the hanging plaque at upper right. This etching, by Italian artist Francesco Zuccarelli (1702-1788), is after the Italian painter and poet Lorenzo Lippi (1606-1665). The artwork illustrates Lippis poetry book Malmantile racquistato, published posthumously in 1688
