1st October 2003: A Memorable Encounter Between Rangers and Panathinaikos at the Olympiaco Stadium This evocative photograph captures the essence of an enthralling football match between Rangers Football Club and Greek powerhouse Panathinaikos, which ended in a 1-1 draw on the 1st of October 2003. The scene is set at the iconic Olympiaco Stadium in Athens, Greece, where the atmosphere was electric with anticipation. At the heart of the action is Rangers' Norwegian striker Peter Lovenkrands, who is seen here in a determined pose, poised to challenge the Panathinaikos defence. Lovenkrands, who spent five years at Ibrox between 2002 and 2007, was a fan favourite and a key figure in the Rangers attack during this period. The home side took the lead in the first half through a goal by Greek international striker Dimitris Salpingidis. However, Rangers refused to be intimidated and fought back bravely.
