A Teddy with teeth?... Dental nurse Annette Brodie talks about teeth at Slaithwaite

A Teddy with teeth?... Dental nurse Annette Brodie talks about teeth at Slaithwaite Health centre to these children from Linthwaite Ardron Memorial CofE School. They are (from left) Hayley Newbould, Holly Wilton, Toni Brownson, Terri Longson, Matthew Neary and Oliver Greenoff. The pupils were at the centre for a play surgery organised for four to seven-year-olds as part of National Smile Week, entitled Give Us A Smile. The centre had displays of modern dentistry, a dentist was available to answer questions and balloons, stickers and painting sheets were given away to children. Mrs Penny Joseph, Huddersfield acting district dental officer, said it has never been easier to keep a glowing smile. " With modern dental methods and preventative techniques, everyone can have a smile to be proud of, " she said. 16th May 1990

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this charming photo print, dental nurse Annette Brodie captivates a group of children from Linthwaite Ardron Memorial CofE School with her talk about teeth at Slaithwaite Health Centre. The children, including Hayley Newbould, Holly Wilton, Toni Brownson, Terri Longson, Matthew Neary and Oliver Greenoff, listen intently as they learn about the importance of oral hygiene during National Smile Week. As part of the event, the health centre transformed into a playful surgery for four to seven-year-olds. Balloons floated in the air while colorful stickers and painting sheets were handed out to excited youngsters. A dentist was also present to answer any questions and provide information on modern dentistry techniques. Mrs Penny Joseph, Huddersfield's acting district dental officer expressed her enthusiasm for maintaining healthy smiles. She emphasized that with advancements in dental methods and preventative techniques, everyone can have a radiant smile to be proud of. This snapshot captures not only a fun-filled educational experience but also highlights the significance of early dental education for young minds. It serves as a reminder that taking care of our teeth is essential at every age. This heartwarming image transports us back to 1990s Huddersfield when these children eagerly absorbed knowledge about their pearly whites during an engaging visit to Slaithwaite Health Centre.
