Knights Put Brave Face on Battle to Beat Women's Lib - You Wouldn't Think It to Look at Them, But This Sinister Bunch Are Knights

EDITORS COMMENTS
. In this intriguing print from November 1978, we are introduced to a group of eight men who have taken it upon themselves to rescue damsels from the clutches of the dreaded Women's Lib movement. Despite their seemingly ordinary appearances, these individuals are knights in disguise. Among them, there are lawyers, a landowner, and even a poet. Every month, they gather for dinner in a secluded Glasgow restaurant where they strategize and plan their next move against what they perceive as an intimidating feminist movement. Their mission is not driven by personal glory but rather by a genuine desire to help young women who may feel pressured into behaving in ways that do not align with their true selves. However, behind this noble cause lies another motivation – escaping the clutches of their own wives. The knights openly admit that this crusade serves as the perfect excuse for some respite from domestic life. As if straight out of medieval tales, these brave warriors don masks before confronting Women's Lib head-on. Even they understand that challenging such powerful forces requires more than just barefaced courage. This snapshot captures both the seriousness and lightheartedness surrounding gender dynamics during that era. It reminds us how societal movements can inspire unexpected reactions and reveals glimpses of an unconventional fight for chivalry amidst changing times.
