A little white lioness is lucky to be alive. Bianca was one of a litter of 4 cubs

A little white lioness is lucky to be alive. Bianca was one of a litter of 4 cubs, two white and two tawny born at Longleat Safari Park on Friday. Other lions in the park mauled the other cubs and they died. Staff at the park managed to get Bianca away but then found that her mother Lucy had rejected her. Now they are having to rear her by hand and they hope she will survive. Bianca is the first white lion cub to be born in England. She is pictured with Lord Bath. September 1981 P017149

A Miracle of Survival - Meet Bianca, the Little White Lioness

EDITORS COMMENTS
. In this heartwarming photograph captured at Longleat Safari Park in September 1981, we witness the incredible story of resilience and hope embodied by a tiny white lioness named Bianca. Born as part of a litter of four cubs, two white and two tawny, her journey to survival was nothing short of extraordinary. Tragically, fate dealt a cruel hand when other lions in the park attacked and mauled her siblings, leading to their untimely demise. However, against all odds, staff members at the park managed to rescue little Bianca from harm's way. But just as she thought safety had found her embrace, another challenge awaited - her own mother Lucy rejected her. Now faced with an arduous task ahead, dedicated caretakers have taken on the role of surrogate parents for this precious cub. With tender love and round-the-clock care provided by these compassionate souls at Longleat Safari Park, there is renewed hope that Bianca will defy adversity and thrive. Not only does this remarkable photograph capture the innocence and cuteness that defines young animals like Bianca but it also signifies an important milestone for England's wildlife conservation efforts. As the first-ever white lion cub born in England's history, she symbolizes our collective commitment towards preserving endangered species. Let us celebrate this tale of triumph over tragedy as we admire Lord Bath cradling little Bianca in his arms—a testament to humanity
