Five Majestic Martin P5M-1 Marlins of Patrol Squadron 56 (VP-56) gracefully take off from the deck of an aircraft carrier, ready for their next mission. The Marlins, manufactured by the Martin Marietta Corporation, were versatile maritime patrol and antisubmarine warfare aircraft, equipped with advanced radar and sonobuoy systems. These planes were an essential part of the United States Navy's fleet during the Cold War era. VP-56, based at Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Florida, was one of the most decorated patrol squadrons in the U.S. Navy.
