The figure, made in the mixed technique, serves as a reliquary guardian, safeguarding the sacred relics of their ancestors. With a colorful and intricately decorated exterior, this figure is an embodiment of the rich cultural heritage and artistic traditions of the Gabonese people. The Kota-Fang people believe that these guardian figures play a crucial role in facilitating communication with their gods and ensuring the well-being of their communities.
