A2 Poster (59.4 x 42cm, 23.4" x 16.5" inches) printed on 170gsm Satin Poster Paper. Securely packaged, rolled and inserted into a strong mailing tube and shipped tracked. Poster Prints are of comparable archival quality to our Photographic prints, they are simply printed on thinner Poster Paper. Whilst we only use Photographic Prints in our frames, you can frame Poster Prints if they are carefully supported to prevent sagging over time.

Poster prints are budget friendly enlarged prints in standard poster paper sizes (A0, A1, A2, A3 etc). Whilst poster paper is sometimes thinner and less durable than our other paper types, they are still ok for framing and should last many years. Our Archival Quality Photo Prints and Fine Art Paper Prints are printed on higher quality paper and the choice of which largely depends on your budget.

Estimated Product Size is 42cm x 59.4cm (16.5" x 23.4")

These are individually made so all sizes are approximate

Artwork printed orientated as per the preview above, with portrait (vertical) orientation to match the source image.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This illustration showcases the exquisite details of Passiflora laurifolia, also known as the water lemon, as depicted in Maria Sibylla Merian's seminal work "Metamorphosis insectorum Surinamensium" published in 1705. Merian, a renowned German naturalist and artist, meticulously documented the natural history of Suriname's flora and fauna during her travels there. The water lemon is a vine native to Central and South America, belonging to the Passifloraceae family, which is part of the larger group of angiosperms, flowering plants that produce seeds enclosed in an ovary. This particular species is an eudicot, meaning it possesses two embryonic seed leaves (cotyledons) upon germination. Carl Linnaeus, the father of modern taxonomy, later named this plant in 1753 as Citrus limonoides, classifying it within the larger Citrus genus, which includes familiar citrus fruits such as lemons and limes. However, more recent phylogenetic analyses have placed Passiflora species within the Malpighiales order, a grouping of dicotyledonous plants. Merian's illustration captures the intricate beauty of the water lemon's flowers, which are characterized by their long, tubular corollas and distinctive reproductive structures. The plant's leaves are also depicted, revealing their lobed shape and the intricate vein patterns typical of eurosids, a clade of dicotyledonous plants. This illustration is a testament to the remarkable accuracy and detail of Merian's work, which continues to inspire and captivate audiences over three centuries after its creation. Linnaeus' naming system, which is still in use today, further highlights the importance of this work in documenting and classifying the natural world.
