The hill holds significant historical importance, having once served as the site of the palaces of the Aztec kings. In 1785, a Spanish viceroy, the Marquis of Branciforte, commissioned the construction of the castle as a royal residence. The castle's grandeur is evident in this late 19th-century image. Its fortified walls and towering turrets stand proud against the clear blue sky, while the lush greenery of the surrounding hillside provides a beautiful contrast. The castle's location on Chapultepec Hill not only offered a strategic defensive position but also provided breathtaking views of the city below.
