This evocative black-and-white photograph captures Lena Ashwell in the role of Prince Edward V in Shakespeare's Richard III, a production that premiered at the Old Vic Theatre in London in 1957. Ashwell, a renowned English actress of the early 20th century, brings a sense of regal dignity and youthful innocence to the character of the young prince, who is famously depicted as being manipulated and ultimately murdered by the titular villain, Richard III, played by Laurence Olivier in this production.
