EDITORS COMMENTS
This beautifully preserved print showcases an exquisite "Old Map of Turkey in Europe" from the year 1852, meticulously crafted by the talented cartographer Henry George Collins. Remastered from a rare Atlas of the World published during that era, this map offers a glimpse into the intricate details and geographical accuracy that characterized Collins' work. Despite his undeniable skill and dedication to producing high-quality maps, Collins unfortunately did not achieve significant business success during his time. However, his exceptional maps found new life when they were acquired by the renowned Stanford Map Company, who recognized their value and incorporated them into their own publications. The map itself provides a fascinating snapshot of Turkey's European region as it existed over a century ago. Its rich colors and precise markings highlight major cities, rivers, mountain ranges, and other notable features with remarkable clarity. This historical artifact serves as both an educational resource for geography enthusiasts and a testament to Collins' enduring legacy in cartography. As we admire this old Turkish map today, let us appreciate not only its aesthetic appeal but also recognize the immense effort put forth by Henry George Collins to create such masterful pieces of artistry that continue to captivate our imaginations centuries later.
