This print showcases the exquisite artwork of an allegorical figure titled "Fame" created around 1590 by Italian artist Cavaliere d'Arpino, Giuseppe Cesari. The drawing is executed using graphite and red chalk on light brown paper, with highlighted details in white gouache. Measuring approximately 9 13/16 x 6 1/4 inches (25 x 15.9 cm), this celebrated piece displays the mastery of Cesari's skillful hand. The image depicts Fame as a powerful and ethereal figure, symbolizing recognition and renown. With its delicate lines and intricate shading, the drawing captures every nuance of Fame's graceful form. Annotated with pen and ink by an early collector along the lower edge of the sheet, this artwork bears witness to its historical journey through time.
