This wood engraving from the 19th century depicts two young figures who played a significant role in the life of George Washington - his stepchildren, John Parke Custis and Martha Parke Custis. The print is based on a painting by John Wollaston created in 1757. In this portrait, we see a distinguished young man standing confidently beside his seated sister.
