Vanda miss joaquim orchid, national flower of Singapore

This orchid (Vanda Miss Joaquim), also known as the Singapore orchid and the Princess Aloha orchid is a hybrid between Vanda teres and Vanda hookeriana. Described in 1893, this was the first orchid hybrid to be described from Singapore.
The orchid was named after Agnes Joaquim in whose garden the hybrid originated and who bred the worlds first cultivated orchid hybrid.

EDITORS COMMENTS
This stunning print captures the vibrant beauty of the Vanda miss joaquim orchid, Singapore's national flower. Known for its unique hybrid origins between Vanda teres and Vanda hookeriana, this exquisite orchid was first described in 1893, making it the first orchid hybrid to be discovered in Singapore. Named after Agnes Joaquim, who cultivated the world's first-ever orchid hybrid in her garden, this flower holds a special place in Singaporean culture. Its significance is further highlighted by being chosen as the National Flower of Singapore in 1981. The photograph showcases the vitality and freshness of this remarkable bloom against a backdrop of lush greenery. With selective focus and defocused elements, it draws attention to every intricate detail of its purple and pink petals. The color image perfectly captures the essence of nature's beauty. Located within bustling Singapore City but devoid of any human presence, this image invites viewers to appreciate both its natural surroundings and cultural significance. It symbolizes not only travel and vacation experiences but also serves as a reminder of how nature can inspire awe-inspiring moments. Frans Sellies' masterful photography skillfully portrays this iconic floral emblem that represents both national pride and admiration for nature's wonders. This print is an ideal addition to any collection seeking to celebrate botanical marvels or showcase appreciation for Singaporean heritage.
