Looking at the scenae frons (stage backdrop) to the ancient Roman Theatre in Palmyra. The scenae frons (stage backdrop) is in excellent condition and is extremely elaborate and belongs to a style of Roman architecture called the eastern-baroque.In the background is the Tetrapylon and the Great Colonnade. In the foreground is the sweeping elegant curve of the theatres semi circular stone seating. Although now there are only 13 rows of seats in the auditorium, originally there would have been around 30.Palmyra an oasis in the Syrian Desert, north-east of Damascus.
