This print showcases an exquisite illustration from "The Book of Simple Medicines" by Mattheaus Platearius, dating back to the 15th century. Created on vellum by the talented artist Robinet Testard, this artwork measures 26x35.5 cm and is currently housed in the National Library in St. Petersburg, Russia. Believed to have been made for Louise of Savoy, wife of Charles of Angouleme, this medieval manuscript holds a wealth of knowledge about herbal remedies and their healing properties.
