In the bitter cold of December 2013, at the venerable Meadow Lane in Nottingham, the mood among the players of Bristol City was one of palpable disappointment. The Sky Bet League One fixture against Notts County had been a hard-fought battle, with both teams giving their all on the soggy pitch.
