HMS Scott is pictured visiting Port Lockroy a natural harbour on the Antarctic Peninsula of the British Antarctic Territory, to deliver essential stores and mail.
The base is run by the Antarctic Heritage Trust, manned throughout the year and is surrounded by mountains and glaciers.
HMS Scott was on task in the Antarctic providing logistical support to a wide range of environmental work including the review of a number of ASPAs (Antarctic Specially Protected Areas). This tasking is was carried out in parallel with HMS Scotts hydrographical survey work, which will be used to improve safe navigation of Antarctic waters
