US-SPACE-MOON-APOLLO XI

A 70mm Airborne Lightweight Optical Tracking System (ALOTS) camera, mounted in a pod on a cargo door of a US Air Force EC-135N aircraft, photographed this event 16 July 1969 in the early moments of the Apollo 11 launch. The mated Apollo spacecraft and Saturn V second (S-11) and third (S-IVB) stages pull away from the expended first (S-1C) stage. Separation occurred at an altitude of about 38 miles, some 55 miles downrange from Cape Kennedy. The aircrafts pod is 20 feet long and 5 feet in diameter. The crew of the Apollo 11 lunar landing mission were astronauts Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin E. Aldrin Jr. AFP PHOTO NASA / AFP PHOTO / NASA / HO

Poster Prints are of comparable archival quality to our Photographic prints, they are simply printed on thinner Poster Paper. Poster prints are budget friendly enlarged prints in standard poster paper sizes (A0, A1, A2, A3 etc). Whilst poster paper is sometimes thinner and less durable than our other paper types, they are still ok for framing and should last many years. EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a historic moment in human space exploration. Taken on July 16,1969, it showcases the Apollo 11 launch from a unique perspective. The image was captured by a 70mm Airborne Lightweight Optical Tracking System (ALOTS) camera mounted in a pod on the cargo door of a US Air Force EC-135N aircraft. In this photograph, we witness the separation of the mated Apollo spacecraft and Saturn V second and third stages from the expended first stage. This crucial event occurred at an altitude of approximately 38 miles, about 55 miles downrange from Cape Kennedy. The aircraft's pod that housed the ALOTS camera is an impressive structure measuring 20 feet long and boasting a diameter of five feet. Its purpose was to document this groundbreaking mission with unparalleled precision. The crew members aboard Apollo 11 were none other than Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Edwin E. Aldrin Jr. , who made history as they embarked on their lunar landing mission. Their names have become synonymous with bravery and scientific achievement. This remarkable photograph serves as a testament to humanity's relentless pursuit of knowledge and exploration beyond our earthly boundaries. It stands as an enduring symbol of mankind's audacity to dream big and reach for the stars – quite literally!
