EDITORS COMMENTS
In this heartwarming print captured by Peter Reimann, we witness a delightful role reversal as children turn the tables on Santa Claus at the Billingham Forum. The festive spirit is palpable as 500 lucky youngsters and their families gather in the theater for a special free performance of Cinderella. These fortunate attendees earned their tickets by collecting tokens from the Evening Gazette, thanks to the generosity of its readers. The true magic lies in the act of giving, and it is beautifully exemplified here as Santa himself becomes the recipient of gifts from three thoughtful young girls. Eight-year-olds Jessica Richardson and Jennifer Finnegan, along with nine-year-old Lucy Duffy, eagerly present their offerings to Father Christmas. Their beaming smiles radiate joy and innocence, capturing the essence of childhood during this enchanting time of year. Santa's sacks are overflowing with goodies for needy families this Christmas season, all made possible through reader donations. Amongst these treasures are canned food items that will provide sustenance during winter's chill. This snapshot freezes a moment in time - December 11th, 1991 - forever preserving an act of kindness that touched many lives on Teesside. As we gaze upon this nostalgic image from Memory Lane Prints, let us be reminded that even amidst commercialized celebrations, it is acts like these that truly embody the spirit of Christmas: selflessness and compassion towards those less fortunate.
