This exquisite handcolored print depicts the Spotted Dove, also known as the Pancou (Spilopelia chinensis), a beautiful and common bird found in Africa, Asia, and the Pacific. The image is taken from Edward Donovan's "Natural History of British Birds," published in London between 1794 and 1819.
